Louisiana shrimp has been the deep freeze long before reaching the shrimp boat freezers. Because of an unusually cold winter, the states brown shrimp season began late, leaving shrimpers with less time on the water this year.

Meeting in Baton Rouge the Louisiana Seafood Promotion and Marketing Board unanimously approved a resolution supporting Reef Fish Amendment #28 keeping Gulf Red Snapper quotas at current levels.
The red snapper in the Gulf of Mexico has gotten a little less “red”. The Monterey Bay Aquarium Seafood Watch program has removed the Gulf of Mexico red snapper commercial fishery from their ‘Avoid’ or “Red” list.

Comprised of a diverse membership, the Gulf Seafood Foundation is a unified, proactive and positive voice promoting interests vital to the economy of the Gulf, as well addressing environmental issues and actions that affect the region. Its mission is a voice of reason finding solutions to a wide variety of important issues the area faces.
